Over 750 Camp Cards have been distributed to the scouts in Troop 94. Each scout is responsible for selling the cards at $5 face value of which $2.50 goes directly towards their scout account. Scouts may use their scout account towards summer camp, troop activities, or scout-related gear.
Here is just an example of what a Scout can get by selling these Camp Cards:
10 cards - Extreme Scout Expo - $25
24 cards - Cub Day/Twilight Camp - $60
72 cards - Webelos Resident Camp - $179
124 cards - Boy Scout Summer Camp - $310
80 cards - High Adventure Camp - $200
300 cards - Philmont - $740
1,400 cards - National Jamboree - $3,400
The Camp Cards are good at participating Safeway Stores, Subway, Extreme Pizza, River Cats events, and much more. They practically sell themselves but the scouts doo need to get out in front of people to make it happen. This is a good opportunity to work on Merit Badge advancement opportuniites such as Salesmanship, Art, Cinematography, Computers, Photography, Public Speaking, and Journalism.
Remember, all money and/or unsold cards must be turned in no later than Thursday, May 24, 2012; otherwise the entire troop loses out on the 50% commission. You may turn in your money or cards anytime before that date. |

Last weekend we spent two days camping at Negro Bar group campground on Lake Natoma. There were 24 scouts and eight adults> Nine of the scouts that came out were on their first Troop 94 camping trip. We had five stations set up which included First Aid, fire building, flag raising, an ax yard, and orienteering curse. A lot of the scouts were able to get their Tenderfoot, Second and First Class requirements signed off.
Everyone did a great job helping the new scouts set up tents and cook boxes. Each patrol had a lot of food and Cameron's cooking was awesome and he shared with as many scouts as possible. Sean K. had so much food and it was sooo good. Campfire was pretty noisy and the Ventures kept us entertained as usual.
Thanks to Anthony and Michael who did a great job leading us and to all the adults who made it possible. |

A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.
Three Scouts from Troop 94 participated in the Sacramento Catholic Diocese Religious Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, February 4th at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Presiding at the ceremony was Bishop Jamie Soto who awarded each Scout a patch and warm congratulations. Jeffrey I., Augustine I, and Matt L. earned the Ad Altare Dei Award for their participation in a weekend retreat and completion of service to others.
Every Scout is eligible to receive these awards based on their own faith. The religious emblems programs are programs created by the various religious groups to encourage youth to grow stronger in their faith. The religious groups—not the Boy Scouts of America—have created the religious emblems programs themselves. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the recognition to be worn on the official uniform, but each religious organization develops and administers its own program. If you are interested in growing stronger in your faith and earning an award click here Boy Scout Religious Emblems to review the denominations that currently have a religious award program.

Saturday, March 10 & Sunday, March 11. Save the dates for the Troop 94 New Scout Orientation campout. This year the camp out will be held at Negro Bar Group campground at Lake Natoma. We will be assembling at Folsom Middle School on Saturday, March 10 at 9a.m. and then leaving for Negro Bar campground, returning on Sunday, March 11 at noon. We will have stations for the new scouts to work on gaining new Boy Scout skills such as fire building, cook box preparation, proper tent handling, Toten' Chip and Fireman Chit cards, knots, whipping and fusing and a whole lot of fun and games. Parents of new scouts are welcome and we will be holding a troop orientation session just for you.
Alternate site would be Lew Howard Park on Saturday only.
